The return of Raidou Kuzunoha

Often overlooked and forgotten as the years have passed, Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army was a strange PS2 RPG — even for genre powerhouse Atlus.
Close to 20 years after its original release, the weird (but wonderful) adventure is being remastered as the aptly named Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. It's coming to both PS5 and PS4 on the 19th June.
Unlike other titles in the Devil Summoner series — which is itself a subseries of Shin Megami Tensei — Raidou boasts an action-based battle system, as the titular detective slashes with his sword and casts magic against all manner of demonic entities.
Interestingly, Atlus says that this remaster has combat "enhancements", alongside "a brand-new user interface, full voice-overs, and expanded 3D environments". It sounds like it might border on being a bit of a remake, rather than a straight HD port.
Its action combat, together with its relatively unique 1930s Japan setting, makes Raidou something of a black sheep in the Atlus RPG family — but that's probably why it's been chosen for such a revival.

One of the very few games that interested me in the direct. I bought the ps3 ports hoping they'd put these on plus premium so I could download on ps5 but this is probably the better way to play it. I heard they're rough

I played the PS2 version of Raidou back in the day and I loved pretty much everything about it... Aside from the combat system which was pretty damn terrible.
The fact you've got two demons at a time (Which was only in the sequel) and it seems to have actual combat mechanics for Raidou beyond a 3 hit sword combo means this might actually be playable

@L_Bosch They better remaster Digital Devil Saga. Those games were some of my favourites from Atlus.

Atlus keeps shortening the names as sub-franchises age, this should be "Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army"
Honestly this looks fun and like they put actual effort into it, so I'll likely check it down the line, still got to beat Soul Hackers 2.
